A fictional company that focuses on bodycare and skincare products using flowers and natural ingredients. One of the main focuses of the company is its sustainable values. Since the beauty industry is one of the top pollutants, Fleur wants to be the first company to actually do something about it.Using recycled products for packaging, and having a reuse program where any plastic, glass bottles or jars can be sent to be refilled at any standing retail location. Fleur also wants to provide tips, and ideas for both the company and its customers to work together on helping the environment.
As I was researching the logo, I wanted to create a simple, clean, minimal, modern logo, that would capture that clean aesthetic that most skincare brands have. I wanted to use a Sans serif typeface to capture a more youthful, contemporary audience. Also, the idea of using a mark for the logo, so many ideas came about.
The inspiration for FLEUR came to me after noticing how big the beauty and skincare industry has gotten so huge in the past years. One would say there is already a lot of products and brands already but I noticed there was a lack of was sustainability. This particular industry produces a lot of waste that is not being thrown out the proper way and using material that are not decomposing friendly, which leads to them staying on Earth longer creating potential danger to the environment and living creatures around it. What FLEUR does different is creating products made from sustainable materials and has a recycling program where reusable containers can be reused again.
Researching other natural/ flower beauty brands for design inspiration.
Sketches for potential graphics, art for packaging.
Imagery and color inspiration came from flowers and I wanted to use that natural aesthetic for my packaging. I researched various skin care companies to see how the competition was doing and to get an idea of what was selling on the martket. I also looked into recycled materials for the packaging and plastic containers. I looked at what natural based skin care brands do their marketing and noticed a lack of color, and thats what I figured what would make my company stand out.
Some of the obstacles I faced was defining my final patterns and looks for branding, and also how would I market and showcase this brand. In the end I decided to go for that bohemian vibe for the marketing and website. I think doing my research fully for this project made it easier for me to create the final products and final branding looks.
Throughout the process of creating FLEUR, I realized how important having a plan before starting out was necessary in order to create final concepts and decide which one looked best for my taste and what would look marketable for audiences. The biggest challenges I would say would be working with Adobe Dimension, which has totally changed the game on package design and just working on finalizing packages. Everything else having to do with colors, typography, graphic just came naturally together.
